A highlight of the Ingende trip was playing the “flashlight” in one of the Pygmy chorale groups at the Bokakia parish worship. Instructions for the instrument: find a metal flashlight, take the bottom off and vigorously scrape the ribbing in rhythm. The instrument is popular in parishes in Mbandaka as well as in the “interior” of Equateur province.
